Let's try "Let's Make a Sandwich!"

I love watching vintage videos, and "Let's Make a Sandwich" is one of my favorites!  For a Friday lark, I decided to try the questionable mixture for dinner.

The special, guests only sandwich involves milk, butter, tuna fish, and cheese.  I know it sounds disgusting on the surface, but my husband and I used to eat a soup with similar ingredients when we were first married and it was delicious.

Anyway, the directions are sort of vague.  (A cubic inch of butter?  Really?) but I followed along as best I could.

I think that it could have used some flour in the roux to thicken the sauce.  It was pretty thin.  However, I used cheddar instead of Velveeta, which is what I imagine was the "cheese of an easy melting point" that they were describing.

I don't doubt the "aesthetic value of parsley," but I left that out of our sandwich experience.  I did add the tabasco for "a taste surprise."

Here's the result.  It was..edible.  I think that this dish would have been met with desolation had I been served it as a special snack as a teenager though!
